For the particular DSLR shown and most others, you should not have to move the mirror out of the way manually. If you put the camera in sensor cleaning mode, the shutter will open and the mirror will flip up exposing the CCD or CMOS sensor.

If you have to move the mirror up with your finger, you’re not doing it right. The point of the camera’s sensor cleaning mode is it moves everything out of the way and exposes the sensor.
One of Scoble’s Photowalking videos shows Thomas Hawk cleaning his camera’s sensor.

Like somebody already said don’t touch your camera mirror.
Just check your camera menu if there is “Sensonr clean” and use it cos that will move mirror away safely and then you can clean your camera sensor.
