Whenever I open a Mahalo link the theme comes blasting out of my speakers or headphones and I always fumble for the mute button, so I’m definitely for the autoplay off. But I generally find involuntary sounds on web to be intrusive, so I’m not sure if my point is completely valid here.

Can the producers of this show consider providing other video formats for download, like WMV, MP4, AVI, etc?

Not everyone uses an iPhone or Quicktime. Most of your mobile market is not Apple.

    Thanks

  3. Chris Niles Says:

I think turing off autoplay for any content on a website is a good idea. Quite often when I open a website, I don’t go directly to it, I’m opening a new tab in the background that I want to look at once I’m done looking at what I’m doing now. If one of the tabs in the background starts playing music or video, having to hunt through all of the tabs to find the one is really annoying.

  4. ups Says:

    Definitely off!
A large number of people browse the internet while listening to music and overlapping sounds totally disrupts the experience. Also, it is much easier to simply close the window/tab and ignore the site than to search for the stop button.

  5. Alexander Says:

The only time that the autoplay annoys me is when I am getting caught up on episodes, and even than it only takes a second to pause each vid, I think you should leave it on. :)

  6. Brian Says:

    Autoplay good

There’s only one video on the page that my rss links to, and if I look at them in google reader, they don’t play on their own anyways. So it’s all perfect!

  7. bk Says:

off please. I haven’t been watching lately and was surprised by the youtube… when did this switch take place? anyhow, the sound with the old player was insanely loud and it doesn’t remember the last volume setting.

  8. diwigo Says:

I like it, if you turn autoplay OFF! Just agree with the opinion of Chris Niles, who wrote a reply before me.

  9. DP Says:

Is that what’s going on? I had no idea that “autoplay” thing was in effect. In fact, in my browser (IE7), it doesn’t auto play and I don’t have anything to click on to MAKE it play. What do you have to do to watch the vids? btw, I like the old format just fine.

  10. Rick Says:

What happened to the full screen option? I can’t find any way to get the video tp play full screen.

  11. Shoki Says:

please no autoplay. I am fine with the video preloading but I want to click play :)

  12. jetcityjr Says:

Why not make it a savable option via a cookie? (IMHO, this is precisely the sort of thing cookies were originally intended for, not for abuse by 3rd party advertisers and spammers).

Anyway, if that is not an option, or if a user is paranoid about any cookie, then absolutely default it to OFF!

Anyway, I visit your site primarily to download the MOV files. So the autoplay is a bloody nuisance. The files then get transcoded and streamed to my Tivo Series 3 using pyTivo (which works better for me than Tivo’s own software).

  14. John Says:

    Absolutely love Mahalo Daily.

I use RSS to get the daily vid and it is completely messed up with auto play so please turn it off.

  15. Mack Says:

I love Mahalo Daily and Veronica is a great hostess but I’m not a big fan of autoplay. Also I wish you wouldn’t have switched to You Tube. I liked having the option of going to full screen that you had.
