<-- View our previous episode!
Starbucks introduced their newest blend of java called the Pike Place Roast this week, kicking it off with a 30 minute period where people could try the coffee for free. We took to our local Starbucks stores to find out what was so special about this newest blend, and got the opinions of the caffeine-craving Mahalo staff.

I agree with the majority of the taste-testers in that video. Starbucks makes some of the nastiest beverages I’ve ever tasted. That’s right, I said beverages, not just coffee. They’re either too sour or too sweet or too spicy or…ugh. Their Frappuccinos are the only thing they got right.

Funny segment. I drink Starbucks everyday I’ll give it a shot.

Who is the woman Lon interviews with dark, wind-blown hair? She’s hotter than Veronica! It sounds like he says “Darren,” but I don’t know.

Forget taste-testing and new brewed coffees! Instead of expanding the menu–including coffee beverages—CEO Schultz, ought to cut the daily offerings on the chalkboard. Simplify beverage and food service items–and then focus on the coffee experience!

It’s interesting, what a couple of the interviewed detect as bitterness is what I detected as the tell tale Latin American acidity. Pike Place roast starts off very light and smooth and there might be some more to that initial taste, but it’s quickly replaced with that acidity, which seems to be what dominates in this coffee.

LOL! Very funny segment, especially the end. Thank you for fighting through the mob scene.

Not to nitpick or anything, but the coffee is named after the Pike Place Market, not the Pike Street Market…
