Ummm. Is this supposed to be pseudo porn? I don’t know whether to be offended or not…
June 2nd, 2008 at 4:16 am
Would’ve been a good subject but execution was blah.
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz………….
June 2nd, 2008 at 4:22 am
Calacanis I hope Activision is paying you for this episode!
Also, I’m going with Andrea over Leah for the VLOG Idol comp. I just can’t stand Leah’s voice and look. I find Andrea to be much easier to watch.
June 2nd, 2008 at 4:24 am
I also just watched her video. She made a wise decision not to say a word in it i suppose. Otherwise it was really boring.
There is really, really no way Andrea should win.
Sorry to repeat myself:
Anderea will just lead to major subscription loss as she is either loved or hated so be aware of this when making your decision, whatever Leah comes up with in her viral video. Leah is just not that controversial…
@Andrea Rene:
“Hopefully the intelligent viewers of Mahalo Daily will look beyond the juvenile things being said about ALL the contestants……….”
You just revealed again what a bad personality you have.
This mostly sound like “bad comments about me must be from stupid people” (just exaggerating a bit).
Please reflect yourself and the things you said in the previous video AS WELL as in the Maprentice questioning and just accept you are cocky.
This was not magical editing that made you say this thing, it was YOU.
[Feel free to delete the same comment on the MD132. I just wanted to continue the discussion here.]
June 2nd, 2008 at 4:38 am
can’t stand her, and stupid video.
June 2nd, 2008 at 4:45 am
A good video, and I cant wait to see the other entry from Leah. My only complaint here is that you cant go out and intentionally create a viral video. These things take off on their own, are very random, and you never know where the next one will come from. How did the Rickroll get so popular? Why is the history of dance still the most viewed video of all time on Youtube? Nobody can quite say for certain, and more importantly, you cannot go out and, on command, recreate that type of success. Videos that try to be viral are often annoying because they try to hard. Im not sure that this contest will provide enough informationon which to base a final choice for host of Mahalo Daily.
June 2nd, 2008 at 4:46 am
…and after looking over the other comments, I am reminded why I havent left comments before now. GROW UP!
June 2nd, 2008 at 4:58 am
Interesting vid. I have to admit this is my favourite Andrea Renee MD vid, and I fear it is because of her lack of speaking in it. I thought the whole thing was pretty funny. I doubt that we’ll be seeing people trying to emulate this in the future, but the video itself was right up there with “I’ll get you Spammer.”
I can see Andrea hosting Mahalo Daily. I’d just suggest that she either tone her voice down a smidge, or normalize it in the editing room.
Overall a nice attempt. It probably won’t go viral, but then I don’t think Leah’s will either.
Also, I’m in agreement with Josh. If people aren’t going to provide constructive criticism, then they shouldn’t bother commenting at all.
June 2nd, 2008 at 5:06 am
Cool Guitar Heroe video!!!
Can’t wait to see what Leah will come up with.
Good luck to both contestants.
Andrea and Leah rock!
Wish both could be hired…
June 2nd, 2008 at 5:46 am
Hmmm, I voted for Andrea but that was a shocker. I’m swinging back to Leah now she’s got the glasses back on :)
June 2nd, 2008 at 6:11 am
Looks LAME, not CLASSIC which is what’s required for a viral video, especially one that you’ve created for the specific purpose of becoming viral.
Obviously, this aims to be funny, but it’s lame. It looks over-produced…and fake. Not real enough. This is also due to Andrea’s acting. E.g., Andrea is smiling when running on the spot first thing in the morning. That sets a fake tone for the whole video. And therefore, it’s not funny in any way. At least, for anyone know doesn’t know that that’s actually Andrea.
Lastly, digg helps enormously….if it can find itself on the digg reel, it’s pretty much made it. I don’t think the digg audience will buy this video though. It has to be top-notch to make it with digg (or lucky in some sort of way).
June 2nd, 2008 at 6:55 am
I think the idea of trying to make a viral video is lame. They become viral if people think it is great and not something that people MADE to be viral.
It should also be about 30 seconds or less.
June 2nd, 2008 at 7:13 am
Production: Check
Humor: Check
Soundtrack: Check
Concept: Check
Honestly, I thought it was funny in a poke-fun-at-the-YouTube-generation kinda way. Creating a viral video is a great idea, not because it’s easy to create a viral video, but because it’s fun to see the interpretations of the hosts about the community and what’s going to catch on with them.
I think Andrea, Lon, and the team did a great job on this one. I don’t know if people are going to be passing it around in e-mails and on blogs, but you can see from the video that she “got it.” It’s a bit polished for a viral video, but seeing as neither of the entries (not having seen Leah’s of course) will actually go viral, we rate the effort, and Andrea did a great job.
June 2nd, 2008 at 7:18 am
I like the Mahalo cap that Lon was wearing. Where can I get that?
Fun video. But I feel like it lacks resolution. Still fun though.
June 2nd, 2008 at 7:18 am
Really didn’t like it.
I’m not a fan of Andrea’s, so I might not be the best judge of this particular video. The impression I’ve gotten out of Andrea from her interviews and from her comments in the Mapprentice has been that she’s trying way, way too hard — which makes her come off as phony rather than funny in this piece. Just the taste I’ve got in my mouth.
I think it was a good idea, and the subject matter ought to appeal to Mahalo users, but Andrea needs to be a lot more personable and candid for me to enjoy a show like Mahalo Daily. This was her last chance to do that, so for me, she blew it.
June 2nd, 2008 at 7:25 am
Yawn!
Smart move to keep her mouth shut.
Otherwise, a bad song from “Footloose” (which did fit in a bad video) and it went on way to long with the “training” Could have shaved it down even more. How much do we really need to see her training? Is it an excuse to try and be eye-candy?
Lon was under-used as well. I think he one of the more amusing people on the ‘net right now, seemed like a shame to not show his talents.
June 2nd, 2008 at 7:40 am
No “The Wizard” references? :)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0098663/
June 2nd, 2008 at 8:05 am
Well, not viral material but it was ok. I would have liked to have seen the training going on at an actual “boxing” gym. I’m sure there has to be one or two in the area. I really feel like Andrea gave it her all, acting wise, and I agree it was a good idea for her not to have a speaking role. Actually, Lon really didn’t look like he was giving his all. He almost seems board and didn’t act like he wanted to be there. I would have really loved to seen him eating a sandwich while he was riding the bike. That would have been funny. Don’t get me wrong Lon, I love your work, but I don’t see any hosting chemistry between you and Andrea. Not sure how much creativity from Andrea went into this. If this was hers lock, stock and barrel… the creativity was just not there. Overall, I just didn’t think it was Mahalo good. Sorry.
June 2nd, 2008 at 8:12 am
an interesting attempt given the fact that as Josh pointed out, deliberately creating something viral is next to impossible. i was really surprised when the final contest was announced; less than a week earlier on one of the TWiT network shows (i forget which one, but maybe net@night?) there was a discussion about how you just can’t force this stuff.
because of that, this final round is little better than a coin flip. heck, a Guitar Hero battle would have been a better determiner of who is more qualified. oh, and i’d like to know: what’s the highest level that Andrea can actually complete “Through the Fire and Flames” on? looks like there’s a lot of fake button-mashing in the video.
June 2nd, 2008 at 8:14 am
Hmmm, it wasn’t over the top enough. Usually these have someone going absolutely mental rocking out. Lon should’ve been screaming like a drill sergeant and Andrea should’ve been pulling crazy facial contortions. The song was too mellow and last generation too. Decent idea but I thought the execution was lacking.
June 2nd, 2008 at 8:28 am
Was that a paid Guitar Hero commercial disguised as a MD episode?
June 2nd, 2008 at 9:16 am
Sorry for a Viral Video, I think it is missing the Viral part of it. I did like the beginning , but the training sequence went on for to long and it would have been nicer if she actually played the game at the end rather then what she did
June 2nd, 2008 at 9:20 am
Boring subject.
Boring video.
This re-enforces may vote for Leah. I can’t wait until tomorrow to see her video.
June 2nd, 2008 at 10:06 am
I wasn’t expecting greatness here, but this was just plain mediocre. I made better spoof videos in high school and that was 12 years ago.
Please explain what was supposed to be viral, or even entertaining about this. Why the cliché Rocky training for Guitar Hero? Why not finger excercises, eye exams and shopping for junk food? Funny satire needs an element of truth, and the truth is you have to get your nerd on to succeed at Guitar Hero.
This felt more like a poorly produced commercial than anything I would actually care to watch. Grade: F
June 2nd, 2008 at 10:19 am
I think this can be summed up in eight words: “What the hell was that supposed to be!?”
June 2nd, 2008 at 10:36 am
this viral video is too embarassing for me to share, it’s not funny or interesting. sorry. the production probably really took a long time so i know hard work was put into it –but since her resume says that she’s a Guitar Hero champ–maybe it would be have been better if we simply saw her play the game….no olivia newton john references needed. :)
peace.
jomar and clarisse.

June 2nd, 2008 at 10:39 am
Anyhoooo… she’s a lot prettier than leah! :)
June 2nd, 2008 at 10:46 am
I’m not a fan of the viral video idea. This was a reasonable attempt to this unreasonably difficult challenge, but I thought the video was dull. I doubt Leah’s will blow my socks off either, but based on all prior performances I greatly prefer Leah. I would have preferred the contestants do a regular MD episode covering something more technical like VB’s SLAC episode.
June 2nd, 2008 at 10:47 am
That was actually pretty funny. I didn’t know what to expect at first, but by the end I was genuinely laughing. Good work, Andrea!
June 2nd, 2008 at 11:22 am
Honestly, if I saw this on youtube, it would not be something I posted or sent to my friends. Sorry.
June 2nd, 2008 at 11:27 am
Ended up too much like a commercial. And I think the training segment looked a little too loose and dull. She could have put more effort to rocking out for the later half too.
June 2nd, 2008 at 11:33 am
Hi everyone! I just wanted to say thanks for watching my video! This was an incredibly difficult challenge to conceptualize, write, organize, and shoot and “viral” video in essentially 48 hours. (And I agree with one comment that you can’t “force” the creation of a viral video but I gave it go!)
I want to say I am HUGE Guitar Hero fan, and to answer the question, I actually play Dragonforce on “hard” - haven’t worked up to expert quite yet, need more practice ;)
I had a great time shooting with Lon and the Mahalo crew, and this whole experience has been crazy! (To say the least) I wish Leah the best of luck with her concept and I hope y’all have enjoyed watching the competition.
Thanks for your support!
Andrea Rene
June 2nd, 2008 at 11:34 am
Well, that was just plain embarrassing… No creativity, whatsoever.
Agreed with Clamchowder that Activision owes Jason a check. Regarding the viral video idea, it was a perfectly suitable challenge. If you had a full week to do nothing but come up with a good idea for a 1 minute video, believe me you should come up with something better than this. Why not a riff on the Guitar Heroes versus the Rock Band? Or what about, ‘Confessions of a Guitar Hero groupie”, ANYTHING but this drivel.
Andrea has good interview skills, no denying that. The problem with both contestants seems to be the lack of any real creative energy below the surface. I’ll give Leah the benefit of the doubt until I see her video. If I had to choose on personality alone, Leah is the better choice hands down.
Frankly, I’m thinking the decision to cut Michelle was Mahalo’s loss.
June 2nd, 2008 at 11:49 am
Let’s review Andrea’s and Leah’s vidoes for what they are…an exercise in fun, creativity and teamwork. That’s all. Just another small piece to help “the powers that be” make their decision. Good luck to both of you!
June 2nd, 2008 at 11:59 am
I think that was Michelle’s decision when she did not show up.
June 2nd, 2008 at 12:17 pm
Eh, it is what it is. Viral videos (ergo viral marketing) is very much hit-and-miss, which is why I wasn’t so sure about the concept in the first place. Or so I think. I’ll have to see Leah’s video to either confirm or refute that statement.
June 2nd, 2008 at 1:03 pm
Overall it was a fun video, but as folks pointed out perhaps incomplete.
The Good:
1. Andrea put in a great performance and you could tell she was having fun.
2. The production value was amazing
3. Lon was funny as usual (watching him try and ride a bike and almost falling)
The Bad:
1. There was no story. Was she supposed to have this amazing battle at the end? should have gotten Veronica or Leah to cameo in the video as the person she was training for (or a still shot of Veronica playing Rock Band which exists on the internet!).
2. Not enough funny moments.
Background:
It’s important to note the contestants had very little time to pull this together–like two days I think. To make one of these videos you really need 3-4 days of prep and two days of shooting. You typically have to rework and refine the concept.
So, overall, I think given the time constraints Andrea did a really great job. Given another two days she would have added 2-3 more jokes and come up with a better story/ending.
She clearly is will to put it out there for the show and she clearly is a genuine, fun-loving, and entertaining potential host. For me the purpose of the task was to see who would put it out there for show and who would put out a great effort in a short time.
The Mahalo Daily can be a grind for the team. Sometimes they have to come up with shows on the fly and get them done in 12-18 hours. Our new host has to be able to handle the pressure of a daily deadline five nights a week–it ain’t easy! (used to be four deadlines when we were Monday-Thursday).
Well done Andrea!
all the best, Jason
ps - let’s please keep the comments nice. Critical is fine, but suggest putting what you like as well. Remember, Andrea and Leah are humans with feeelings. They are putting themselves out there for us to discuss in detail… it’s not easy for anyone to be under a microscope. So, be nice. :-)
ps2 - no, Guitar Hero didn’t pay for this… it was for fun. Although, if Rock Bank of GH want to sponsor the show please contact Tyler @ mahalo.com. :-)
June 2nd, 2008 at 1:09 pm
South Park already nailed this so much better with their Guitar Queero episode. Andrea’s video was lame. No - Activision does not owe Jason a check because this isn’t even good as a commercial.
Just because they had fun making it doesn’t mean it was fun to watch. Creativity? Can somebody name one thing creative about it? One original idea? If this is what we can expect from Mahalo going forward, then I see an unsubscribe button in my future.
June 2nd, 2008 at 1:24 pm
I think Andrea did a great job esp. given the time constraints. I look forward to seeing Leah’s as well but I still think both are more than capable. I don’t envy Jason as the task is difficult. (I do envy his Tesla).
My only complaint was her socks… they irked me somehow. ;-)
It could have been funnier - perhaps some tongue-in-check Rocky shots of her running up steps or something but as others have noted - creating something that WILL DEFINITELY be sucessful as a viral effort is next to impossible.
As for the tone of some other comments, I will say what I said on Sarah Atwood’s blog… it is easy to be critical given the anonymous nature of these posts.
I have seen a number of comments about how people will unsubscribe if this or that contestant wins. I find these pointless - some will leave just because but if you like the brand, you should give it a decent chance.
June 2nd, 2008 at 1:43 pm
Andrea is awesome! This video was clever and funny.
You are my Idol Andrea.
June 2nd, 2008 at 1:52 pm
Can I just say that I can not stand anything about Andrea Rene. How did she ever make it this far? Leah is way more attractive and more talented. We need to get rid of this girl so the show doesn’t start to suck. Go Leah! You are the best. Andrea Rene should go into the porn business!
June 2nd, 2008 at 2:00 pm
Why does Andrea Rene always fake like she is Southern? “Hey ya’ll”. I hate that fake annoying girl. She is the most conceited person in this business. Get her out. Find a new career babe. I agree with the comment above. The porn industry would be good for her.
June 2nd, 2008 at 2:18 pm
Good effort…was hoping for a bigger ending though.
To the extent of what this video was meant for I would give it 8 out of 10.
She is definintely commercial talent.
June 2nd, 2008 at 2:44 pm
My Thoughts & Opinions
June 2nd, 2008 at 2:46 pm
Andrea is my favorite, but I did not enjoy the video all that much.
Then again, this seems somewhat artificial as the final competition — I know the host is involved in production and writing, but still, a good host won’t necessarily be able to make a good “viral video”. Just as a good news anchor won’t necessarily do well with acting or comedy.
But perhaps Jason and co. are looking at much more than we are, behind the scenes — how Andrea and Leah deal with the pressure and constraints, and work with the crew under these conditions.
June 2nd, 2008 at 2:46 pm
wow you guys are dicks! The video was very funny, great work. It’s clear that none of you commenters have ever done anything creative before.
June 2nd, 2008 at 2:48 pm
First, I would like to say to Andrea… good luck and I wish you all the best in what ever you do…
Second, I personally did not care for the video… Reason: if you want to make a “viral video” it needs to be short and sweet like Josh eluded too (in http://www.mahalodaily.com/#comment-10583) I think that a “viral video” needs to appeal to everyone, not just a certain group of people… i.e. the History of Dance… everyone likes to dance (for the most part) and the music in the video was appealing to most people.
Guitar Hero is for a smaller group of people in the world (even though is very popular). I think a better choice my have been doing a play off of Survivor or some other reality show (since it has been the theme thus far). Just my 2 cents.
Third, I am ashamed of most of the people on this comment thread! Let’s see you try and put together a video within this time frame and try to make it viral! These ladies have worked their butts off to get this job and now all you do is criticize them!! I will admit Andrea and Leah are not my first choices; however, I will never ridicule them for not trying their best!
June 2nd, 2008 at 2:58 pm
Hey Jason,
I agree with your good & bad points. I would like to add to your point about not having a story. It will be important for your host/producer to be able to put a “story” in where there is none for the daily vlog. If it is not there when she has complete control (as complete as it gets), where will it be when shooting on a location? Also, while this showed some good creativity, I think it could have gone farther, pulling in more references (Rocky, football training, scandanavian guys with the peppers - just off the top of my head). Final comment - overall, it did not feel viral. No hooks at all.
I am interested in seeing Leah’s entry, as it is really the COMPARISON between the two viral videos that is the most important. This one may be so-so, but it all comes down to whether it’s better or worse thatn Leah’s.
June 2nd, 2008 at 2:59 pm
I have totally warmed to Andrea, especially since I found out she’s doing the hosting for this year’s Race Across America (RAAM) and that she herself is a cyclist. Yes.
Having said that, however, this was pretty dumb. Too commercial and at the same time, a bit too porn-like. She and Lon are both WAY more creative than this.
June 2nd, 2008 at 3:13 pm
I’d just like to say first, great effort it’s not easy to put together a video under such time constraints and it managed to be witty if not that gripping. I think perhaps your problem Andrea is that you are too much of personality and although that might be great for a personal podcast you are representing a brand and the point of the Mahalo Daily podcast is to be informed as well as amused. I think that is where Leah has the advantage as although she seems to be a really cool person she keeps it relatively professional and as with Veronica she has an online presence elsewhere if you want to get to the more personal side, which is a good thing. I wish you both the best of luck but am supporting Leah as I think she is what’s best for the Mahalo brand and for keeping me watching.
June 2nd, 2008 at 3:18 pm
I thought it was an interesting attempt at a viral video. Like everyone else has said it is very difficult for a video to go viral, let alone when your only goal in production is to create a viral video. It definitely wasn’t amazing, but given the difficult task I think Andrea did a fairly good job. It will be interesting to see what Leah comes up with. The one thing that I think Andrea could have done a much better job at is cutting down the length of the video. I don’t recall the exact time requirements, but this video seems as if it could have been expressed in 30-45 seconds, not two minutes. I also don’t know how much Jason was looking for Mahalo brand integration in these videos, but the little glimpses of Lon’s hat were next to nothing, and a pretty bad attempt at integration. Its difficult to judge without anything to compare it to, but I would probably give this a C+
June 2nd, 2008 at 3:22 pm
Nice job Andrea. Liked the energy and the production values. It was obvious that you were willing to put it all out there. Given the time constraints I thought it was great.
Can’t wait to see Leah’s video.
June 2nd, 2008 at 3:25 pm
Just a tiny remark, what’s the purpose of this video? Maybe I am not familiar with the concept of viral video but c’mon what is in there for the viewer? First I hardly recognized our contestant and then what? is it supposed to be funny? does it say anything in particular not really, I didnt even realize it was one of the viral videos. No offense to Andrea but it is hard to judge anything, for there is nothing to be seen in the Mahalo spirit … or maybe 1 minute and not enough time to prepare/produce gives us that? sorry but I am dissapointed …
June 2nd, 2008 at 3:42 pm
Sorry Andrea, but you really grate me; video a bit lame as well- Leah to win.
Is it me or when Andrea looks at camera, it is just too ME! ME! ME!?
Can we have Veronica back again?
June 2nd, 2008 at 3:55 pm
very meh, i would never have watched that if it didn’t appear in my feed. very un-viral.
June 2nd, 2008 at 4:37 pm
Amazing job in the time available. Maybe would have been better if the ending had a shot Andrea playing and the TV in the background (ala. all the GH videos on YouTube). Production value was maybe too good for a viral video. Fun to watch in any case. Leaning toward Leah though.
June 2nd, 2008 at 4:38 pm
Very fun, good spirited video. A few good sight gags, and a very cool, stylized bit at the end. It is definitely not deserving of such hard criticism. Well done Andrea, keep it up! Looking forward to seeing Leah’s video tomorrow!
June 2nd, 2008 at 4:43 pm
A good attempt (especially with the time constraints). To me a viral video is something that I would choose to watch repeatedly and also forward to my friends.
I’m not sure this fits the bill. Maybe a RockBand reference (Lon has to pull her off the drumset or something) could have stirred some level of conflict. Maybe a cameo (real or simulated) of some kind could have helped.
The time constraint may have been too much.
I’m looking forward to what is in store tomorrow.
June 2nd, 2008 at 4:47 pm
I no longer care who wins because I don’t like either. Once the competition is over, I’ll be taking Mahalo Daily from my iTunes. Without Veronia, Mahalo Daily blows.
June 2nd, 2008 at 5:08 pm
I really like the idea but I’ve gotta agree with the others, execution isn’t great. I know it would’ve been a little more cliche but i’d have preferred maybe a “Rocky” training sequence for guitar hero, I think that would’ve been a little more viral and fun. I’d give this a a 3/5
June 2nd, 2008 at 5:19 pm
Digg it at: http://digg.com/television/The_Next_Viral_Video_2
June 2nd, 2008 at 6:10 pm
I was sure that Leah would be a dead-cert, but Andrea’s video was a lot better than I was expecting! It’ll be exciting to see how Leah’s video stacks up!
June 2nd, 2008 at 6:17 pm
Let’s get on with it…the viral video by Andrea was definitely UNACCEPTABLE.
There was no serious input to this video and Andrea took the easy way out.
Being in advertising all my life this would have been shot down without
question. So let’s see what Leah has and she , no doubt, will win it hands
down without any effort…See you on Mahalo Daily, Leah.
June 2nd, 2008 at 6:40 pm
That was a pretty terrible video. How many times have we seen the Rocky training parodied? Unoriginal and boring.
June 2nd, 2008 at 6:49 pm
Andrea just has that can’t keep your eyes of it. If she doesn’t win Mahalo will be removed from my itunes…
June 2nd, 2008 at 6:50 pm
Its is me or is Andrea just so sexy! She oozes personality too. Not the most original idea but still had to watch it…
June 2nd, 2008 at 6:57 pm
Shame the competition is almost over - has been great to watch.
Thanks to Andrea for some highly entertaining videos. Despite the negative comments, some of us really appreciate your work!
Best of luck for the competition and beyond.
June 2nd, 2008 at 7:09 pm
This video is soooo bad ass! Awesome!!!!
June 2nd, 2008 at 8:23 pm
If Andrea would had taken off her top, shut up and jumped up and down for two minutes THATwould had been a MUCH better video.
This..was just…really…lame.
At least she didn’t talk but she did manage to get some of those annoying mouth/eye squints in that I’m sure SHE thinks is really hot and cool but to the viewer it gets REALLY annoying after the 15th time (in one episode).
Take the mic away from her, botox her face and strip her down - and we got the new Mahalo star right there.
June 2nd, 2008 at 8:41 pm
I love Andrea! She has a really cute personality and look for Mahalo and she is also very funny. My vote is for Andrea.
June 2nd, 2008 at 9:16 pm
That was a interesting Activision Ad.
OH, that wasn’t an activision ad? Viral Video? huh?
that was a nice idea, but not exactly the best “viral video”.
June 2nd, 2008 at 9:49 pm
Why is it when people have criticism that nobody has the guts to leave a video comment? Weenies!
June 2nd, 2008 at 9:58 pm
I still prefer Andrea to Leah, but that was not good.
June 2nd, 2008 at 10:26 pm
Wait… did I just see a girl dancing around in underwear on MD? Seriously, don’t insult us for the easy win.
June 2nd, 2008 at 10:49 pm
Hmm.. i just don’t see how much viral this could become. I mean, Andrea doing exercises in shorts, that’s definitely something i would share, but that’s like a tiny bit of the whole video and by far not the best approach.
Concerning all the guitar hero aspect that the video took, and the skills she said to possess in GH (wow dragonforce on hard is amazing. i suck at it, big time). Maybe the sexy headless GH should be a nice one for a viral video. No mahalos, no face shots, just a semi-poor cam with a gorgeous girl playing GH amazingly well in.. let’s say, nice clothing. Although I don’t really know how goodly or badly would this affect MD. Which was clearly a condition for the viral video.
Or even just the best female gh player ever (not true, but would call for attention hehe)
Overall it could be better and fit the “viral” a little better. reduced time to prepare was certainly a challenge, and the outcome was OK IMHO.
I still wanna wait for leah’s to decide.
:]

Short joke, longer video. The training sequence needed tighter editing. I’m not sure the definition of a viral video, but I assume that I should want to watch it again. Well I don’t. I’ve thought that Leah has a wider range for gathering an audience, and this didn’t change my mind. Admittedly, I’ve never played Guitar Hero so that may be why it missed it mark. (Play Guitar, not Guitar Hero)

Okay… I don’t think anyone here is stupid enough to believe that post above was actually from Andrea. Some snot-nosed sociopath is trying to stir up controversy.

nope!

@Jason
I’m so glad that you are satisfied with Andrea…then, when Mahalo profits diminish you can be cheery througout…or was that not your post (Jason C.?!).
Also, as difficult as it is to hear….with an open forum…and you drop the ball…people are going to let you know!! MahaloDaily.com…for…what?!

I’m catching a cold from watching this video…viral???
June 3rd, 2008 at 3:11 am
Sorry, rather lame than funny.
June 3rd, 2008 at 4:26 am
I’ve watched both videos and thought that Leah’s video was only good because lon was in it. It was good, but he was the main focus of humor.
Andrea literally rocked it by combining something old with something hot right now. Much more creative then a spoof on something and Lon wasn’t the main focus. Lon is awesome but this contest isn’t about him. He already won by being radical.

That wasn’t a viral video, it was more of a single-cell organism with gout! Can’t spread if Mitosis is stunted!
June 3rd, 2008 at 8:30 am
I liked it. Considering the short amount of time to do it, I thought Andrea did a really good job. Especially considering this was original material vs. Leah’s who basically copied a template and made fun of it. Great job Andrea!

Well I can honestly say since the departure of Veronica Belmont if Andrea isn’t the new host I’ll be unsubscribing from Mahalo Daily.
I’ve watched both videos and at least Andrea the “featured” in her video, unlike Leah who is relying on the talent (stomach?) of Lon.
June 3rd, 2008 at 11:09 am
Honestly, after seeing both videos, this one is MUCH better. Coming into this, I really didn’t know who to vote for, both were great; however, Leah’s video was MUCH worse than this one. It might be because I was expecting more from Leah’s. I dont see how people thought this was boring. If Andrea doesn’t win, I dont think I’ll watch Mahalo anymore, just go to see Veronica on tekzilla.
June 3rd, 2008 at 12:19 pm
For anybody who thinks Leah’s video has too much Lon…
1. You can never have too much Lon
2. Andrea didn’t have a single line of dialogue in her video, unlike Leah who gave a pretty funny performance.
Besides, Leah’s video was much more polished, and actually had a beginning-middle-end. The diggs say it all.
June 3rd, 2008 at 1:12 pm
Now that I’ve seen both, the choice is clear: Leah is the winner of the Mahalo Vlog Idol. Hands down.
Leah is smart, funny and self-deprecating. Not quite Veronica, but who is?
I think Andrea will continue to make a great host for entertainment shows and red carpet interviews, but I just don’t think she’s right for MD. There is no doubt that Andrea is smart, beautiful and talented, but her vibe is just too L.A. for this show.
Don’t worry, Andrea. You’re going to be a big star. Just not here.

I really like it! It’s funny and well made!
You Rock Andrea!
June 3rd, 2008 at 3:12 pm
I was rooting for Andrea but after reading all her insane comments I know I’ll be voting for Leah. I can’t vote for someone that can’t take the heat from a few online comments…
June 3rd, 2008 at 3:57 pm
Decent try but it really fell apart at the end.
June 3rd, 2008 at 5:05 pm
I may not have loved this episode, maybe just because I don’t really like either Guitar Hero or Rock Band… but Andrea is still my absolute favorite overall host so far!
June 3rd, 2008 at 7:34 pm
Andrea Rene….FTW. A far superior video.
June 3rd, 2008 at 10:47 pm
Lame, really lame. Although I was impressed by the balancing act on the ball.
Between Andrea’s video and Leah’s video, I think Leah’s has the greater potential to actually be viral. Don’t know if it will actually reach that level, but I would imagine it will stand the test of time. I also feel like she showed her team spirit by including Lon extensively in the video.
Strange that there was behind the scenes video for Leah, but not for Andrea. Maybe Andrea just didn’t think of that, but it would be interesting to see how she got along with the crew.
From the viral videos and Leah’s behind the scenes footage, I have to say that Leah seems far more approachable. Lon may even have a little co-host crush on her. :-D
June 3rd, 2008 at 11:54 pm
Andrea has been my favorite from the beginning, and I had decided that even if her video wasn’t good, i’d still vote for her.
Luckily I thought it was entertaining, so I still vote Andrea!!!!
Oh and for the record, there was dialogue!!!!!
“It’s go time!”
Anyway, I liked this video sooooo much better Leah’s. Leah’s kind of disturbed me, and she was barley in any of the video.
The main thing that made this video for me was that you could definitely tell that Lon and Andrea were having fun!
So Andrea, I wish you the best of luck and hope that you win the competition!!!!!
June 4th, 2008 at 3:23 am
It was boring… except for the last 20 seconds, they rocked!
June 4th, 2008 at 10:18 am
Thumbs down. The editing is too dark, the soundtrack annoying, Andrea shows no personality and doesn’t even say a word. Its good to see she gets exercise though. This was just a very poor set of choices to showcase her. Gotta go with Leah.
June 4th, 2008 at 10:25 am
This just didn’t work on so many levels. Andrea is a good personality, but the choices lack the creativity of Leah’s vid. Production quality was low, no dialogue, no plot (just outdated flashdance gags) - I saw this spoof on SNL, and Andrea doesn’t showcase herself well. I’d give it 3 out of 10.

WOW Andrea looked HOT in this vid!! vote for her!
